handsofblue
Good afternoon, everyone! My sister and her husband have a set of five warrens that I like to call our working girls because they provide our eggs while their other chickens (2 polish, 2 pekins and one silkie) provide the pretty Anyway, we got them quite a few months ago and they've been good layers since we've had them, but have recently come acropper on a problem. My other sister accidentally locked the chickens in their house last week and, upon releasing them again, we found that one of the eggs laid away from their nesting box had been pecked and eaten. This happened again the next day so my sister hollowed out one and replaced the contents with mustard. This worked for the rest of the week, but has now started happening again! Another mustard egg has been prepared, but is it normal for a chicken to start pecking the eggs? Do they stop or have they now got a taste for it? Also, one of the chickens has started laying eggs that have no shells. We think she might not be getting to the grit, but would there be any other reason why this would be happening? Many Thanks, guys!
handsofblue
I've just realised that there is already and "eggs being eaten" thread! Sorry about that, but the second question still stands.
Christian
If you check the FAQs section, there are details about soft shelled eggs too
