windway Posted September 23, 2010 Share Posted September 23, 2010 Hi We are about to purchase chickens but I can't seem to find medium sized chickens!! Omlet suggest that you have up to four of these in the Eglu but I can only find what is classed as Large or Bantams. We would ideally like to get three chickens and had been hoping to get a Black Rock, Welsummer and either a Sussex or a Bluebell. Is this ok or are they too big? chicken bark Posted September 23, 2010 Share Posted September 23, 2010 The hens you listed should be fine. Hens come as large fowl or bantams. So you need to look at the smaller of the large fowl - don't get Jersey Giants! Just remember that you'll need more than the standard 2m of run if you are getting 3 hens. I should have added that I have and extension to the run but they will be kept in the run most of the day with only a little free ranging each day (due to work during the week).
