Janepie33 Posted September 26, 2010 Share Posted September 26, 2010 One of my girls has a bald front and bald patches on her wings. The skin is very red and feels quite hot. My first thoughts were:- A big moult - BUT feathers seem to be really really slow in growing back. Bullying (she is the bottom of the pecking order) - BUT the feathers have gone from her chest, crop and underside where the other chickens could not generally reach. Broodiness - she is still squatting and her comb is still big and red and I have not found excess feathers in the nesting box. Mites - I have looked and looked and seen no sign of them but I have treated her (and all the others) with diatom as we found a few tiny beige/ grey mites on one of the other chickens.
