Henney Penney
Hi all The girls finally arrived today and they are wonderful, just one question, I am really not sure how to get them up the ladder into the roosting area, they dont seem to keen and I don't feel happy leaving them in the run all night. I am sure some of you must have faced similar issues in the past. xxx
alet_chicken
Hi, you could try to lure them in by putting a flashlight in the Cube (they should follow the light, in theory). If that doesn't work, you could post them into the Cube yourself (I usually "bounce" new girls on the ladder rungs to reinforce the idea). They should get the hang of getting into the Cube at bedtime in a day or so (some learn faster than others). Edited to add: Forgot to say, congratulations on your new girls! Henney Penney
Thanks Alet. I did end up posting them in as they just would not go. I will try again tomorrow with the flashlight! I hope I did not stress them out too much, but they seemed allright when I left them. Perhaps I will try putting them on the ladder tomorrow if they dont go. BTW dont laugh at my names, I dont intend to eat them just named them after my favourite chickens! xx xxx Tex Mex Tandoori Thai Garlic
Plum
I had to post them first day I got my cube. I forgot you had to twist the handle to open the door and couldn't do it
Dizzy-Deb
My girls havent discovered their cube yet, and they have had all day today to explore their new WIR and find it. Went to shut them in for night and were in their eglu I think tomorrow will have to spend some time with them and do some posting too when dusk starts to fall.
