vaksy
I Have 4 hens all nearly 30 weeks old and only one started laying about 2 weeks ago. I got them at 16 weeks. Is there a possibility that the other 3 may never lay? Would appreciate any advice. Many Thanks
chicken bark
Different hens come into lay at different times. The shorter days may delay them coming into lay and some may wait now until the Spring. Having said that I got a POL hen 7 months ago and she has never laid. Madam. Chucky Mama
They may just be late starters. You could try ensuring that they are eating plenty of pellets, so cut out corn and treats (perhaps if free ranging keep in a little while to increase the amount of pellets they are eating). You could also Flubenvet worm them. Do they look as mature as the hen that is laying? Do they have good combs on them?
vaksy
They are free ranging and and their combs are not like the one that is laying, but other than that look the same. I will make sure they are eating the pellets and cut out corn for a bit. Thank you all.
Chucky Mama
Sounds like they need some time to develop. Cutting out the corn is a good plan Let us know when they are laying
Egluntyne
My Speckled Sussex was over 40 weeks when she eventually graced us with an egg. It depends on so many factors, and now that the days are shortening, this will have an impact. You would be very unlucky indeed to have three hens that never come into lay.
