My smallest chicken got attacked by a cat today its only a small scratch as they soon got rid of it but she is now pecking at the cut constantly and making it flow with blood whats best to do here?

 

Also same chicken i noticed her pulling at something on her back. By her tail there is an oblong lump that pertrudes outwards shes pecking at it loads so ive sprayed smelly stuff round to stop what is it?

It'll be her preening gland so don't worry about that it's the way they groom themselves. She needs to leave the wound alone though. You could try antipeck spray, purple spray or if that doesn't work a poultry saddle would protect the wound.

If it's bleeding badly, you could also use vets powder (just helps it congeal and clot) but also heard of corn flour being used in an emergency.

I'd still seek vets advice, as the shock once attacked can cause problems to health and egg laying.

If you have nothing else, regular flour will stem the blood flow till you can get out to get wound powder or purple spray.Hope she's ok today?

thanks for all the advice i used flour yesterday and then the anti peck spray she smells terrible but she left it alone and is not bleeding now. she seems fine in herself and has just gone to lay an egg. so the lump on her back is nothing to be worried about as it looked horrible! why does it have feathers sticking out the top and no feathers around it?

 

Stupid cat it attacked my rabbit last week my cat will soon ward it off tho. owners need to train them more!

Think you better post a picture of the lump on her back it doesn't sound like the preen gland. Are you sure it's not her parson's nose.
