Pro - Does anyone else's nest boxes get soaked in rain?

Not sure if I've posted this in the right place or not!!

 

Is it ok to put 'neat' chicken poo on the garden and how do you use it as a fertiliser??

I only put it on the garden neat if there is nothing growing there and I'm preparing a bed for something, and I'm too lazy to wait for it to compost! I'm sure i've read that neat poo can 'burn' plants if it touches them.

 

I usually add it to the compost bin and it breaks down with everything else in there.

Yes, it's very strong stuff! It can go neat onto fruit bushes, but anything else it is likely to scorch unless (like Charlottechicken) you are preparing a bed.

The best thing to do is pop it onto your compost heat where it will help the heap to get nice and hot and break down more quickly. It also makes the compost extra nutritious!

Last year I scooped a lot of Easibed plus poo into some old compost bags with no clear idea what to do with them. When my new garden was finished recently I used it to top up the soil levels. It had broken down nicely - not compost obviously but the poo had all disappeared so I reckon it won't do my flowerbeds any harm!
