My school is building a chicken house and run as a DT project, but we don't know how big the house has to be. How big does a chicken house for 6 medium sized hybrids have to be? Also, how can we protect a wooden house from red mite, etc?

If you aim for about 10 inches of perch space per hen.

 

You'll need to keep nooks and cranny's down to a minimum so perhaps use a marine ply with the frame on the outside so it is smooth inside if you see what I mean? Removable perches and maybe make it so is can all be disassembled so you can clean it easier and get rid of red mite that way?
