what a day!! Rats

Recommended Posts

Got up yesterday to see the wir roof bowing in heavily under 8" of snow. It had been ok, but the sheer weight broke a fixture -temporarily fixed for now. Me and hubby frantically s"Ooops, word censored!"ing snow off roof-whilst more snow helpfully fell.

Last eve we went to shut everyone in and had a 'visitor' which I shooed out with a stick - thought it was a fairly big mouse, but on closer inspection this morning think we have a rat/s under the shed, so must've been a young rat  now have bait box outside shed near the tunnel and hope that it will be safe for dogs and chooks as inaccessible. I just hope no ratties go into shed/run to expire now :anxious:

oh yeah, and my son slipped on an icy step at school (which was 'helpfully opened' yesterday) and is now on crutches!! ho hum :o

Oh no - sorry about your day! :( At least the snow will show if you have more visitors overnight. I was in one of those 'helpfully open' schools today wishing, along with my half empty classes, that we were not so committed to the cause :wall: and wondering how my chicklets PPGNR were doing.

Thankfully, we have a continental style day so I was able to escape at 2.30pm and have some 'fun' in the snow with the girlies  - actually they hate it! They can't understand where the grass has gone!

I am really hoping we won't be so helful tomorrow and can get a full snow day!

I had 'one of those days' yesterday - first of all I saw a rat in the garden (only got rid of the last lot, via B&Q poison, 6 weeks ago, normally they don't come back for several months), and then I broke the door of the hen house, so can't shut the chooks up at the moment. I'm not very good at DIY, so have to wait for hubby to fix it at the weekend. Meanwhile, I'm draping a big tarpaulin over the whole thing to keep out draughts. Hoping this cold weather passes as forecast on Thursday!
