brambles
Sheila the light Sussex came into lay three weeks ago and had a week of laying in the nest box. Snce then she's done a couple of softies, one in the nest box, but has also done a couple of hard shelled eggs on the roosting bars. Is it just that she's new to it? Thought she'd got it sorted straight off, bless her! It seems such a waste of good eggs a s they cracked as soon as they hit the roosting bars. thelurch
we regularly get one laid on the bars of our cube, when I go to check them at 7.30, they have never been cracked but occasionally the pointy end gets pecked so theres a little hole but its always where the air sac is so they never damage the egg inside. BocBoc
Could it be because the nesting box is already full? We sometimes have an egg on the bars but usually when there is a queue for the nesting box and she can't wait any longer!!
