Pro - Does anyone else's nest boxes get soaked in rain?

I have 5 chickens and 2 cockerels in a cube, but as the cockerels gest older his getting louder and doing it more and more early in the morning before his even let out. Is there anything I can do to stop him doing it before I let him out? I thought of covering the cube to make it darker? if that's ok what's best to use?

no they are fine. Get on really well

its ok to cover the cube but take care not to block any vents, a loose weave blanket or rug would help maybe? or maybe weed supressing membrane (not the plastic type) - something that is breathable

 

Alternatively use a bit of old carpet/rug but leave vents clear
