Ms Marple
We use this and it is great for the girls - so absorbant. What I want to know is will it be alright to dig into my my raised beds after use? I have a large scompost bin with a year's worth of droppings and Nedz, just not sure whther is is too soon to use say even the bottom half? All advice most welcome - last year was the first time we ever grew anything since before the boys and they are 18 and 22!
C&T
We use Hemcore, and yes, put it all over our garden once it has rotted down for at least 6 months or longer. To help it rot down and make good compost you need to make sure it is mixed with Green waste (grass cuttings etc) and keep a compost heap well stirred and full of air. It is really good stuff - but a bit potent until it has had a good chance to rot down a bit! Roses thrive on it! For the veg patch, I put a load of compost on a few weeks ago and letting the chooks, sun and rain do their thing to break up the compost, and get it dug into the soil before putting in any young plants. I will also put some lime down just to neutralise the soil a bit. Did the same last year, and had some good crops!
