Karlotta - do you ever leave the coup door open at night? I leave the fence on at night and I would love a lie in or to go away overnight. I just haven't had the confidence to do it yet.

 

Could you not make a wire base to put under the run and eglu? Get the best wire mesh you can, the stronger/thicker the better...then simply cable tie it to the skirt of the run (and allow extra mesh to sit under the eglu...weigh down with a couple of slabs if needs be!) when you're away or in need of a lie in. They'll still be able to peck at the grass/soil...but nothing will be able to dig underneath! That, combined with an electric fence, should be more than capable to withstand a fox!

 

A more permanent solution would be to move it onto some paving slabs/a concrete base while you're away?
