Henchanted
I'm really worried that I've done something stupid. As its getting colder again I though I would treat my hens to warm mash this pm by adding hot water to their pellets and stirring (and waiting for it to cool). When I cleared their pots at bedtime they had had about 2 thirds and what was left was a solid lump and now Im scared they will get sour crop or congestion at least. Does anyone make wet mash out of pellets or am I barmy ? Will appreciate all nuggets of wisdom please ...

Chucky Mama
I do from time to time. You do have to make it quite soft by using the correct amount of water and given fairly fresh as it does tend to be more solid and unpalatable after not too long. Roobaloo
I made it lots when it snowed...mixing it into a lovely paste (not runny but not too thick...!) they loved it freshly served but once it cooled and hardened, they lost interest and it went to waste! Mine have never had any trouble...so I wouldn't be too concerned, just check their crops in the morning but I'm sure they'll be fine!
