Henergy
Both my two girls are laying but the problem is we don't know which is which. We thought we had it sussed based on who was in the nest box at the time but then now we are not so sure. Basically we have a colombian blacktail and a Bovans Nera. Both types of egg are similar size, one is a pale brown and the other is a darker shade of brown with speckles. Is there any way to tell, or is it something I should accept to not really knowing

Sageandonion
My rhode island blacktail ( columbian blacktail by another name I think) lays the speckely eggs, just to add to the confusion

Henergy
We think we might of sussed it out - its likely that the Bovans is laying the paler eggand the blacktail is laying the darker egg ! (we think)
Space Chick
Put a bit of food colouring on one of their vents, then you'll know for certain
