A Little Worried about our Silkie

Recommended Posts

Hey Guys!

We have a very over-active and slightly bonkers silkie called Maxx (Picture of her on the left). Every day, she's out running up and down and making new hills from piles and piles of chip bark she throws about (she even blocked the coup door on Saturday and we had to dig it free!) but yesterday, her and Pepsi stayed in the coup for the majority of the day.

This morning I found them out and about, but noticed that Maxx was moving her head like she was bobbing along to music. She'd extend her neck, then shrink down, then side to side. She still scratches around and still drinks, and she's still as bonkers as usual, but this has got me worried.

It may be nothing, but after having a bad run with chooks (Kari passing away one month after we got her, and both Tori and T.K., both silkies, turning out to be cockerels - both now living in good homes and regularly visited, although Tori has a personality crisis thinking that he's a Polish) I can't help but worry about her.

I have her booked in with the vet first thing in the morning.

Have any of you seen or heard of anything like this before

Sorry to hear about your troubles, I had two silkies which turned out to be boys, luckily as you rehomed. Your little black girl looks lovely so I hope someone can shed some light on her behaviour. Mine do scatter the wood chip everywhere but thought that was normal as these as my first chicks. They go mad when I change their bedding as well, it's as if they have to investigate every bit and I often have to move them out of my way, does make me smile though.
