newcountrygirl
Can anyone give me advice. Yesterday I bid for and won an item on Ebay. The bidding closed at 1.pm On the information - the seller had stated that delivery was $4.00 but you could also opt for £6.00 1st class delivery. I sent a message asking if she would amend the invoice to show the £6.00 charge (as I would prefer that delivery) so I could make the payment. Didnt get a response. I kept checking all day and had no reply so yesterday evening I sent the message again in case for some reason the first one wasnt received. I still havent had a reply. Hubby says i should just make the payment that is shown but i feel it's a bit fishy cos i would have expected her to watching when the time was up and responding to any message or query. I'm loathe to make a payment when I dont seem to be getting a response.
Cinnamon
Ok,firstly I assume you used the eBay messaging service? You should have her email address,so send her an email too,as the eBay service can be unreliable. Another thing to consider is that she may run her account from work,so won't see that the auction has ended until today. Did you also request an invoice? Lastly if you are really worried then phone her,but to be honest I don't think there is much to be concerned about.
newcountrygirl
Thanks Cinnamon - I did use the ebay messaging so i will try sending her a "real" message to see if i have any luck. I did request an invoice.
WarrensWorld
I sent a message asking if she would amend the invoice to show the £6.00 charge (as I would prefer that delivery) so I could make the payment. You could have just added the extra postage to the invoice, and added a message in box provided. It should say something like 'extra $*.00 added for 1st class postage as per your email'. The message will appear in your eBay message inbox, so you can always refer back to it. Mind you thats if you have a PayPal account, if not you'll have to wait. Does the seller have lots of feedback, or a big items sold score. If they do then it may take a little while to get around to you. I wouldn't panic just yet I've been on eBay for over 8 years never been stiffed yet.
newcountrygirl
Thanks. I went onto ebay and got them to message me with her tel number. I rang it but there was no reply but i left a message asking her to check her emails. I'll wait and see what happens.
Chucky Mama
It's quite early, I would give them a bit more time. Requesting an invoice to reflect the price including the new postage should be all that you need to to. Have you bid for something from the US as you mention $s, if so make allowances for the time difference.
newcountrygirl
No - it was in sterling . Ive tried requesting an amended invoice and even left a message on her answerphone but no joy. I have tried amending the invoice but it wont let you - i think you have to be the seller to do that. I have sent a message to the ebay help team to ask what to do. Thanks
Cinnamon
To be honest you may get it quicker by just paying for normal delivery. By the time you get to pay your £6 for first class it will have got to you quicker by paying right away at second class any how.
Chucky Mama
I was thinking that too
newcountrygirl
I was thinking the same thing. However i'm just a bit wary of paying when she isnt responding to anything.
Cinnamon
If you are paying by Paypal, you have absolutely nothing to worry about. They are brilliant at refunding people whose items don't turn up,although the process does take a while. You are very protected if you pay by Paypal
