Our ex batt has a red tummy - the skin is red along her breast bone - any ideas what it could be?

 

They have all been wormed recently (two weeks ago), she is eating / drinking / scratching / preening fine. Her wattle and comb are bright and look fine and she doesn't look to have lost any feathers. She's getting on a bit - an ex-batt who we've had since Sept 09 and she was rescued about six months prior to us having her. She's pretty much stopped laying now - one egg a week if we are lucky.

 

We've been handling her after bed time to try and get her used to us - so, we can apply some sudocrem later on when OH gets back from work.

Does she sleep on the floor of the coop? if so change the bedding if it gets a bit damp as that can cause a rash

Ahh, good call Tasha - think she does sleep in the nesting box in the Eglu. Fresh straw went in yesterday and is still dry now. Will check it again (and her tummy) tomorrow.
