Emzy
Hi, Well we have a couple of chickens - bantam silkie and bantam polish and are thinking about ducks. We both love them and would love having one around but I imagine one on its ow isn't a great idea (unless it thinks its a chicken!!) so 2 I guess? If 2 ducks is right then 2 females? Or 1 female and 1 male? I don't really want lots of baby ducklings around though...........well I do but our garden isn't big enough for that!! Do I need a big garden to keep 1 or 2 ducks? We'd really like a/some miniature appleyard duck/s although they seem to be impossible to find around here. Any help and advice would be really great
miller30
Hi Emzy no you do not need a big garden to keep ducks and you cant really have one on its own so if you only want them for eggs 2 girls would be good you dont need a drake unless you want to breed them and plus drakes are sex pests at this time of year some females can be very loud and ducks are also very messy but if you dont mind this then there should be no problem hope this helps leanne
donald
If you are going to have ducks please provide them with some water at least to put their heads under. Just get a couple of females that should be fine then. They will sleep on the floor of a house on some bedding etc good luck donald
