lougarbard
Today I got 8 eggs, great because I have 8 hens! But there should have been a very dark brown one in amongst them if all 8 had laid! But there wasn't!! Is it possible for 1 hen to lay 2 eggs in one day?? Early morning, then late afternoon?? Or am I going doolally , and dating yesterdays eggs with todays date???? Olly
It is possible, although it usually only happens when they are young hens and getting used to a laying pattern.
percy049
I don't think so.... it's probably the dark-egg laying one's laid a softer shelled egg, which usually happens if shes new to laying, or it can just be a blip
meezers
Is one of them a light brown egg ? The colour of my Welsummers eggs varies alot from dark brown to pale brown, depending on how long she's been laying .I think she started laying again yesterday, but not positive as the egg produced was the same colour as my Australorps . fluffy chick
I got 4 eggs one day from my 3 bantys!
LuckyChickenLover-
It's rare but it can happen. Most likely she just laid a lighter coloured egg on this occasion.
