NickJ1+
I have 4 two week old chicks, one of them seems to have a bald spot running down the centre of her body, in an area I'd describe as the "breast bone". Is she just losing the furry bits and growing feathers? Or is it something to worry about?
Chook n Boo Mum
With my limited expereince, I'd say she's lost the fluff ready for the feathers........keep an eye on her though.........like I need to say that Sha x
craftyhunnypie
That is perfectly normal. They can look a bit baldy as they shed dander & grow feathers. They can look quite alarmingly thin & bald round the neck as they grow too. They go trough several mini moults / sheds as they grow their feathers & eventually their adult feathers. Sometimes it can look like a pillow has burst in their run. Don't worry, they will grow into beautiful chooks. Emma.x
NickJ1+
Thank you for the reassurance. I had assumed that was the case, she's the biggest, so it makes sense she's shedding first, rather than the others have been picking on her.
