Pro - Does anyone else's nest boxes get soaked in rain?

Hi,

 

I'm very new on the forum (must see if there is an introductions thread here... ) and one of my hens has laid her first egg today, small but just beautiful.....my little boy found it randomly deposited in the grass....not sheltered or anything, next to a poo

Wondering if there is anything I can do to encourage use of the nesting box as our garden is a good size and they are mostly freeranging now.....would hate to miss lovely eggies!!

Try placing fake eggs (either china or rubber) in the nest box. Golf balls also work.

Yep, I used a rubber egg (from Omlet) in the nestbox. I left it there until I knew all my hens were laying.Now I don't need it anymore
