debsagos
Hi, I'm very new on the forum (must see if there is an introductions thread here... ) and one of my hens has laid her first egg today, small but just beautiful.....my little boy found it randomly deposited in the grass....not sheltered or anything, next to a poo Wondering if there is anything I can do to encourage use of the nesting box as our garden is a good size and they are mostly freeranging now.....would hate to miss lovely eggies!! Christian
Try placing fake eggs (either china or rubber) in the nest box. Golf balls also work.
JillM
Yep, I used a rubber egg (from Omlet) in the nestbox. I left it there until I knew all my hens were laying. Now I don't need it anymore
