Cube outside WIR - how to foxproof

Recommended Posts

Hello,

The previous owners of my WIR and Cube kept the cube outside of the run. With the big shuffle round we're hoping to do the same. It seems they just had a panel with a hole in the mesh and butted the Cube up to it with the ladder going through.

Is this secure? Could a fox not exploit the weakness and pry the mesh open? I'm also worried it opens the WIR up to rats getting in using the same method.

How do you get round these concerns?

we've done similar to omletina I think. ours is butted up to the WIR, no marine ply opening, but the cube itself is bolted to the wooden uprights around the door opening (iyswkim), and then the ladder is mounted on the wood on the inside, so no longer attached to the cube.

again, we cant slide our roof, so disabled the sliders and lift it on and off. 6 months in, it seems pretty solid and no fox probs (within the WIR anyway, he took our 2 rabbits from the electric fenced area somehow - or they escaped...)
