Was my OH birthday a few days ago and I was racking my brains deciding what to get for him, and then I know, I'll get him this

 

Weighing in at a hefty 3lb 9.5 oz

 

Kinda dwarfs the regulars

 

Needless to say he was chuffed to bits, you see the only reason we got chickens (which I ended up looking after ) was because of his love for eggs. He has tried most of the others e.g. duck, goose, guinea fowl, quail etc.

 

So, egg dipping party tomorrow, bring your own french stick

 

Nearly forgot to mention it's an Ostrich egg not from my little lady

Will maybe get him a couple of Emu eggs next year

so how long will you have to boil that one for to get it soft enough to dip the (2 ft) soldiers in it

If you haven't already tried Ostrich meat then that is worth a go too!!

I have read that it takes an hour to soft boil it and will need a hammer and chisel to take the top off

Can you imagine having to deal with an egg bound whatever laid this. Trying to hold it over warm water or push a prolapse back in would be er intersting - probably wont go there
