scarlettohara
Due to my change in circumstances i know longer have a car, I borrow my Mum's for work. However my son competes his horse and we have a trailer, I'm thinking of buying a cheap mitsubishi shogun as they are good towing cars. There are a few 20 year old cars around for about £1000. Just wondered if anyone has one and if they are reliable even at that age ?
stoice
My OH (bit of a car geek) initially said an M reg Suzuki vitara would be good for that price, in a v6 petrol, but then he re-read your towing requirement and thinks you couldn't get a £1000 Shogun that is in good nick,. Maybe try a mitsubishi pajero which is basically the same car but a japanese import. Thousands have been imported so you should be able to pick up a clean one. £100 should get you a diesel too. He says the leather seat versions would probably be worn though so maybe look for the velor ones that would still look fresh. He also says check over the electrics as they can go iffy but most people who have one, love one, so it'll probably be well looked after. Alternatively, he suggests a ssangyong musso. Bit ugly, but they all come with 'bullet proof' merc engines, could get one for about £1000 with a bit of searching. Hope this helps. All a bit above my head but my OH was well excited he could offer advice here instead of it being me giving the chicken related advice, bless.
