j00lz_12366
Earlier on this evening, we were watching the girls starting to get ready for bed..betty was already in and Cissy made her way up the ladder, but Doris jumped in front of her and stood outside the Eglu. She started behaving v strangely-sitting down and wiggling, then standing up again-but all the while looking v agitated. After a couple of minutes of this she suddenly launched at my o/h who was stood at the WIR. She came at him feet first and squawking, it was all really strange-he wasnt doing anything and he has spent many hours observing them since we have got them so he isnt unknown to them, Could it be anything to do with him being stood up at the run-maybe he looked more menacing somehow..or was it because she was more on guard as it was v nearly roosting time.. any ideas..? Plum
A confused hen Sounds like she was crouching in front of Cissy and acting a cockeral with your husband
j00lz_12366
yes, we thought it was some sort of defensive behaviour-she couldnt see cissy, I think she was crouching in an attempt to launch herself off the table-which she did..I also wasn't sure if it could be a reflection either from his watch or glassesthat was causing her aggression although it wasnt particularly sunny at this point. Was just odd really...Doris has definitely taken on the top chicken role-pecking everyone else when they get in her way and it was just nice in a way to see that also means that she has responsibilities towards protecting the others-she also seems to sleep in the doorway of the Eglu now it is open over night-I am assuming this is defensive too..
