Chezza13
Hi, I'm assuming my cockerel has ear wax as both ears have yellow crust surrounding them and he keeps stretching it's mouth as if trying to clear it. Anyone know what I could use for this ?
Daphne
I don't think its actually wax but a gummy stinky yellowish discharge presumably from an infection. I gently clean the ear with a number of clean cotton buds and warm water, quite a lot of gunk comes out - its easier with 2 people, one to hold the bird. I think you may be able to get something from the vet to clear it up properly, but I'm not sure. I didn't medicate it the first time I saw it and it did come back the next winter, but I've not had it since.
The Dogmother
I'd suggest getting the bird to the vet for some antibiotic drops before it gets painful.
