Jennifer Jane
One of my colleagues is leaving next Tuesday, and I have been tasked with the job of getting her a leaving present. I'm hampered by the fact that I'm working today and going away tomorrow for the long weekend, so my shopping time is very limited, and it's going to be too late to order online. Also, I don't have a clue what to get her. She's not a girlie girl, so jewellery etc is definitely out. I don't want to end up getting vouchers. I have thought about a plant. I have £40 to spend. Any brilliant ideas????

Cinnamon
How about a beautiful planter for her home or garden? You could go to a garden centre & have a look - you may even be able to get something fab like a planted Lemon or Olive tree
Kirstine
If she's leaving the area, a tasteful print of a local landmark or maybe some other souvenir?
Olly
Vouchers for a local shop? Amazon vouchers? I know it might seem a bit impersonal, but they're always useful.
Jennifer Jane
Thanks for your suggestions, very helpful. I managed to get to a garden centre and bought an aptly named rose in a beautiful pot. I did like the idea of olive/lemon tree, but I have to carry the gift on the train, and the lemon trees I saw were a bit big. I collected some more money so had quite a bit left over, so got amazon vouchers. I remembered that my colleague recently got a kindle so she can either get a nice cover or download plenty of books. I'd be happy to receive those anyway. Thanks again.
