My Crested Legbar is in a separate coop sitting on two dummies till I organise 6 eggs to put under her. She never lets Flash near her so none of them will be hers

candling........when should I do that? Eight days?

Some useful info here. It's essential if you use an incubator or if you're not sure of the source (age/condition) of the eggs as you don't want bangers!

 

I'll confess now. I don't often candle as I only use broodies and more often than not only hatch my own eggs so I'm pretty certain of success. Add in the complication of dark brown Marans eggs .....

I usually candle around day 7, leave any suspect eggs for a further day or two before candling again and discarding any obvious duds. I really like doing it and Rosie enjoys seeing the chicks develop in the shell.

hatching my own eggs but no idea if Flash is fertile so I do want to eliminate the dud ones.
