wissywoo1 Posted May 17, 2011 Share Posted May 17, 2011 Hi, I'm trying to sort out my shopping list and would like to know if I can just buy diatom on its own for dusting around bedding, the hen house and to use on hens for mites and lice, or whether I also need to buy separate louse and mite powder for use on the hens. I'm abit baffled by all the products available. Please help! (I don't want to buy more than I need if diatom will do all these things)! DIatom can be used for both the house and for applying on the hen, and will kill any external parasites which are present. Louse and mite powders won't, they are merely preventatives.
