Pro - Does anyone else's nest boxes get soaked in rain?

Can I leave ducklings with the chicken mum, until they are fully grown? I just have visions that she will realise it is mallard and not chick she has reared! Quite sad as every morning mad ducklings rush and dive in the water bowl whilst mum watches!

 

please advise if they can stay together as I do plan to release to the pond/wild etc

Hi my chicken reared ducklings they stayed with her until they were about 7 weeks old she would sit there and just watch them in their pool leanne

In theory the duckling could be weaned when its fully feathered (which with a duck doesnt take very long at all!)

 

If you leave it with the broody then one or the other will get fed up and they will drift apart at about 6/7 weeks as Leanne says
