Mollie333 Posted May 22, 2011 Share Posted May 22, 2011 6 chicks hatched around 6 days ago, they are all doing fine, but i have had another chick hatch yesterday. I asked someone for advice and they said pop it in with the others, so i did. It was doing OK until i got home, the broody had pecked it's face. Luckily it was worse than it looked. I had another broody with no chicks, so i tried to put him under her, she pecked him .. So i have him in my brooder under the electric hen. Someone local to me is selling day olds.. Do i buy one or two and hopefully he'll get on with them or do i just leave him. He is being very loud, is he looking for company? He's warm enough under the hen, and when i make noises he's quiet. Jools Posted May 22, 2011 Share Posted May 22, 2011 I agree, he needs a friend - try one from your clutch first and if that doesn't work, get him a day old pal. Good luck! I had the same thing a couple of years ago, but only a couple of days apart. Mum wouldn't have anything to do with him (and he was a him) so I stole one of hers and raised the two together.
