Eglu Classic - close coop door at night or leave it open?

Recommended Posts

Hi It got into the run that we thought was fox proof.. The run is attached to the fence between us and next door.. It dug down under the fence and got through, even though the fence was on concrete and there was lots of soil on the other side too.. It must have been coming for a couple of nights digging away in the neighbours garden without us knowing.. When we looked at the neighbours there were 3 places it had tried to get in.. Then got under the concrete base and squeezed through ..

The run now has sturdy wire panels dug about a foot into the soil under the fence soil on top then bricks over.. We are going to put a load of concrete around the base of the fence over the wire and hopfully this will stop them

Xx

I reckon some foxes seem to be coming equiped with kango breakers having read some of these posts. Its amazing how some foxes seem to be able to get through concrete. In 6 years I have had two visits that I am aware of and both times foiled by the eglu. Twice they completely shredded the cover but did not get in.

Although foxes have a reputation for being clever I have read that they would not think to start digging in front of the steel skirt that goes areound the Eglu. However, Badgers would :!:

Of those who have lost hens to "foxes" by digging under the eglu, was the fox seen, or could it indeed have been a Badger :?:

Hi everyone

Just to say it was our WIR the fox got into.. Not the cube run.

Still dug under the concrete under the fence! It's all been reinforced but I'm still jittery when I put them to bed.. It was definately a fox as the neighbour saw it
