Do pellets/corn/grit etc have to be kept in air tight containers or are they ok in those stackable plastic drawers you get from DIY stores? I used these for the dog food!!!

I use one of those small "dustbin" type plastic bins with a lockable type lid for the pellets and the corn is kept in the plastic sac that it comes in, I keep it in the laundry room (no mice) and grit is kept in a tin with a lid.

should have added - I want to keep it in the house for convenience of filling things up - so it will be dry and warm x

I store my pellets and extras (grit etc) in one plastic bin (like Jenny) I have another for the bedding and DE etc and a third for mixed corn and dog food (for the dog of course ) all outside in a cool space.

I make up a mix of pellets and additives enough for a week into a smaller bin with lockable lid that stays indoors and is ready to use daily without having to go out to the big bins. This works well for us.

what size (ltr) are the bins people use.............bags are in KG!!

The plastic dustbins with lockable lids are the standard (dustbin) size and the indoor bin/container is 21 lires and the feed for 7 chickens for 1 week is just over 6kgs which fills about half the bin.

I have 2 bins, one for the layers pellets and another one for mixed corn, although I don't go through the corn as quickly as the pellets.
