MaryKate
I have searched as many FAQ to see if anyone has raised this before, but cannot find anything. So does anyone have any thoughts on this one? My two girls have a 4 metre extended run to their eglu classic but FR for a good few hours everyday. Is it normal that they don't go back into their Eglu during the day - except to lay (and that seems to be a pretty quick, but noisy affair)? They make their own way back into the Elgu each night. They did shelter from the rain the other day under the covers of the run, but didn't actually go into their Eglu. I found 4 or 5 red mites (I think) when I cleaned the Eglu out 2 weeks ago (on the litter tray) but have since scrubbed it with Poultry Shield and sprinkled Diatom powder everywhere and it has seemed clear since. I clean their nest and droppings tray out every other day, so is this a case of them simply being outdoor girls or normal chook behaviour? Henchanted
Things are pretty much the same in my classic run set up. Once out in the morning they only go back in to lay and the rest of the time they are scratching about mostly, occasional perching on the added perch in the run, dust bathing and back to scratching.
