Missteecee
Hello I have had my 3 girlies for about 2 weeks now. My question is, can the wild bird seed they pick up roaming around the garden, do them any harm? Thanks
Chucky Mama
It wont do them any harm. I now feed the birds in the front garden away from the chickens as I wasn't keen on the girls sitting under the bird feeders picking up dropped food when wild birds were pooing. Missteecee
It's not so much when I feed them, it's when I let them out to free range, they head straight to the dropped stuff ... I shall have to see if I can cordon the feeder area off . Thank you for replying
Olly
I've used a bag of wild bird seed as a 'back in the run' treat - as long as they don't have too much of it, and as said above if they're picking it up under the bird feeder then there's the potential for transfer of disease/parasites. mollyripkim
Mine make me laugh as they race to the bird feeders when the sparrows fly in to pick up the seed they drop.
