anaemia

Recommended Posts

I think my chickens are anaemic. They have varying degrees of pale combs and faces and I have just found and blitzed some red mites in the coop. I'm going to dust them later before bed.

Does anyone know how I might be able to treat the anaemia? I've given them some mealworms and sunflower hearts plus poultry spice in their food. I know these will all pep them up a bit but is there something more I could feed them? Is spinach any good??

Thanks for the advice. I've given them some tonic and I'm ready to spray the coop again as long as I have a good few hours without rain. I've added DE to their main dust bath and sprinkled them with mite powder.

Their poo is fine - at least I've not seen anything suspicious.

But I still lack ideas for feeding them up. I have seen scrambled eggs mentioned on another site so I gave them that this morning. Maybe there isn't anything else to try....

Thanks for all the thoughts.

gosh there is lots.

There is something called Critical Care Formular and Kaytee baby bird extract. and CM mentoned something else I have forgotten.

Also Guardian Angel.

These are meant for poorly girls but are also excellent for adding to things they are eating to feed them up.

A Look at the Bird Care Company would be good and Malcolm is full of info and advice is free. there are vitamin sups too .

You can go on and on.

Eggs are excellant. :)

the main thing is to be sure the blood suckers are not still out at night eating them!

I would have thought they would soon pick up if they are gone.
