tracyann
Well, what an adventure I've had today... Went to the hatchery this morning, got the hybrid hen a beautiful Silver Sussex for the home which they are pleased with, but I came out empty handed. They had none of the hens that I wanted except one Barnevelder which didn't look its best, they had large fowl and bantam pullets of varying shapes and sizes, they didn't know which were which and what some of them were... However it was nice to see that on catching the SS, she was dusted in Diatom and her beak checked and had a general health check before we came away. I ended up phoning a local breeder (Andrew Wilson) who advertises in the various poultry magazines and went to his place and have got three gorgeous French Wheaton Marans and three gorgeous Welsummers, I got my pretties and all pure bred. He has also said he will lend me a broody bantum next year to try my hand at hatching my own or has suggested I wait til one of the girls goes broody and get some fertile eggs. They are still weaking and are 12 weeks old, still babies. Bless. I have no names for them yet. Just wanted to share it all with you!! I feel Morehens next year!!
