kaza46 Posted July 13, 2011 Share Posted July 13, 2011 Can an chick survive if a egg gone cool? It wasn't stone cold but the Hen had lost interest and they were due to hatch today. Dahato3 Posted July 13, 2011 Share Posted July 13, 2011 I can only speak from recent personal experience but we have been lucky enough to have had a very successful hatch rate... 13 out of 13!! Along the way several eggs were discovered cold having been kicked out of the nest. We attempted to pop them back under our broody but it soon became clear that this wasn't going to work so we finished them off in the incubator. (I should make it clear that only 7 eggs were placed under our broody, the rest were already in the incubator). The only thing to be aware of was that the chicks hatched a day or so after the rest. I can't hear anything but i guess i won't until its got its strength up again and is ready to hatch. i have told the lady i rescued it off that i would give it a couple of day and see what happens. i find it hard to give up on them i have to admit.
