Is my chicken OK?

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

I have four chickens and 3 are now laying regularly which is great. The fourth one seems to be laying very erratically. She looks really healthy, happy, eats well, comb is really red etc however I'm worried there may be something wrong. She has runny poo's the colour of mustard which started last Saturday after she ate porridge which I mixed with pro-biotic yoghurt. In this time she has laid one egg and that's it. Her poo is still runny but she doesn't have a dirty bottom.

I'm thinking that maybe she has worms so I've purchased flubenvet 1% and will start the worming process on Saturday. If anyone can shed any light I would be really grateful.

Thanks!!

Worming with Flubenvet is a good idea. Just be a little careful about giving probiotic yoghurt in quantity. Birds can't digest dairy products. At best it will pass right through them, at worst it will give them the diarrhoea. If you want to give regular probiotics it is probably best to use a powder such as Protexin Soluble or Avipro.
