Doris announced she had laid this afternoon, first time since being broody, a little egg, hers only ever weigh around 30gms. Anyway I had a look and it was still slightly wet and warm so as I was gardening I thought I'd leave it there until I finished. Half an hour later she was missing and there she was in the cube nest box, no egg shell, but yolk all over her beak!

Next job - read up on breaking this habit - now wondering if she has done it before without me realising.

Not 100% sure she hasn't done it again as I am sometimes down on egg numbers some days but maybe the others are having a day off! I do keep an eye though and check for the eggs regularly just in case.
