Worming quails

Recommended Posts

Hi, would anyone happen to know if you are to worm quails and if so with what. I have just recently obtained 6 little ladies and 1 boy (isn't he lucky), I have deloused them all but not too sure as to worming, any help would be gratefully appreciated thanks :)

I dont know, but i was wondering the same thing.

Also you said you de lice the quail is this with the poweder you use for chickens?

If so how do you do it because with my chickens i hold them by the feet so they relax and put the powder on their wings and bum and that way it gets right to the skin, but how do you do it with quails because they are so small?

because I feed my quail the same as my chooks - layers pellets - when I'm using the Marriages pre-flubenvetted pellets for the chooks, the quail get them too. it 'seems' to work ok... certainly they are all laying at the moment.

mine are in rabbit pens on grass (or what's left of it) inside our electric fence. every couple of weeks I move them onto a fresh bit of ground, but of course that does not mean it is completely fresh because its where the chooks FR.

as for de-lousing I just bung some diatom in their sand tray from time to time (no idea if this works or not, but my quail are not amenable to handling let alone trying to dust them!!)

Thanks for the advice, I shall flub the quails this week as with the chooks. As for handling them, it is very much the same as chooks, well until they realise what you are doing, then you have some fun trying to get hold of them then as they become very wise. I dust them down with delouse under wings and bottom area, you will need 2 people to do this though but I might do them as what beach chick has been doing, it may be easier.
