We've recently got 2 chooks who were about 22 weeks old when we got them. Vera the bigger one of the 2 has been laying consistently since day 1 quite big eggs. Phyllis on the other hand started by laying us a few small eggs. But in the last week we've noticed she's stopped laying, shes seems to be eating well, and looks healthy. We noticed a couple of days ago that they had some mites, so we've just started using mite killer to sort that, but any other idea why Phyllis has stopped? anything we could check? or can this just happen at early age, and might she just start laying?

 

Any advice on things we could try / look out for would be much apreciated.

Have you wormed them recently? If not a 7 day course of Flubenvet could do them good and might well make a difference.

When they first start to lay they usually have a break for a week or two. Forum members recommend using johnsons anti mite spray to get rid of lice.
