kaza46
At what age do the chicks need to have a perch in their home again? I took them out when they were born but they are now 5wks old and look big enough to deal with it now. Whats the advice?
Egluntyne
The usual recommendation is that they shouldn't perch until they are about 12 weeks old.

meezers
Well Muppet hasn't read the books , for the last 3 weeks she has refused to go to bed in her temporary coop and instead introduced Chickadee to 'camping out'. Chickadee is now 9 weeks old and happily snuggles up next to Muppet on a perch, I was amazed how high up she got so early on. I suppose in the wild they'd be sleeping in trees so I've just left them to it. I know with show birds it can do something to their breastbone, but for ordinary laying hens I guess mother knows best
