beach chick
luckily they are so thick that you stand a pretty good chance with a fishing net!! (been there, done that, prob still wearing t-shirt )
scarlettohara
I know I left it for ages until it found it's way back to it's mates and nabbed it (his wife didn't look too pleased to see him )
izzys-hens
We used a towel, they may be dumb but when it comes to escaping quails are crafty things
scarlettohara
I read about someone (may have been on here) whose quail frd in their orchard for years and a fox never got them. Quite tempted to let the boys out and see what happens but expect I'm too soft
beach chick
well we had 2 free range rabbits for years... til fox got one and the other died when our logpile caught fire. one lasted about 18 months and the other about 6 years, so it can be done. we used to get lots of people knocking at the door saying "did you know your rabbits are out?" which was kind of them but got rather tedious. I think it is probably an offence under some kind of animal protection law to just let them out, but I dont know how anyone would know!! mind you I was rather shocked when I heard a story about a woman I kind of knew: she had a riding stables, and for some reason also kept lots of guineas and bunnies. when she was closing her business down she couldnt rehome the small furries - so she took them to the woods and let them out there!!
