7 days flubenvet and Poached still has worms

Recommended Posts

I have mixed flubenvet in my girls feed last week but Poached still has worms don't know if I can continue for longer. I do give them run of the garden in hindsight should have kept them in more to ensure they ate more pellets, any suggestions the others all seem fine.

Do you mean you have seen them in her poo?

I would be inclined to 'Flubenvet' all again in 3 weeks, (it suggests this in the instructions) to break the cycle of reinfestation. In the meantime, add a sprinkling of Diatom powder on their feed and ACV in the water, this will help expel some worms.

Frustratingly, to worm successfully you really need to keep them in the run/WIR until they have eaten their daily quota of feed (inc Flubenvet) which might mean all day for a week - I give mine salad leaves/greens and mealworm treats at the end of the day to compensate.

I put out 125-150 gms of feed per hen per day, so I work out the amount for the whole week and add the Flubenvet to a weeks worth of pellets, mix thoroughly and store in a container, from which I decant into the grubs daily.

Hope that helps :)

If you are still seeing worms they could be coming away as a result of you worming them. If you are concerned that they still have worms you can worm again in 3 weeks. You also need to look at your general husbandry as having a high worm burden may mean that their environment is quite contaminated with worm eggs. If you do re worm you need to do all of your chickens at the same time.
