They are going to look into it. Not sure they will be able to do much but at least like you say I have tried my best and that's all I can do. Tricky isn't it, trying to prevent others going through the same thing without getting into deep water yourself. I always keep any new hens completely away from my established flock for a minimum of one week, to observe for the signs of the onset of any illness, but I don't change clothes, and footwear etc. I do the same, and use the quarantine period to treat them for worms and lice too.
