Forestchook
Arghh! Just wasted at least ten minutes of my life trying to prevent a certain messenger program opening itself everytime Mum switches on her lap top. It suddenly started appearing in the last few days even though neither of us have ever used it! I had to log in before I could tell it not to start automatically but in order to log in I had to update the stupid program first. Just to an insult to injury while it updated the little window sat there suggesting I take it with me. I don't even want it here! It's not like you can close it easily once it has opened. Click the little red cross and it just minimises, so you have to tell it to close again! Grrrrrr why do they assume everyone want to use it? ....calm....calm... anyway, at least it has gone now.. on Mum's lap top. Still have to go through it a go through it again on my netbook though! Okay rant over. N
Sam
Is it Windows live messenger? I think the way I stopped it was by searching in the search box 'msconfig' then select the startup tab and deselect what you don't want to run on startup. Computers can be so frustrating
Forestchook
Yes, but I wasn't sure if I should name it. I searched online about how to remove it and they all seemed to say log in! Anyway, I did find a feedback option to tell them I did not appreciate having to spend so much time switching off I program I have never used. (don't worry I was polite. ) N
squiffs
I had to actively search out Windows Live Messenger to install it... where are you getting your computers from for them to presume which programs you want as standard??
