ems123
I got two new ducklings yesterday which are an Indian runner Cherry Valley mix and this morning I tried introducing them to my two 2 year old Khaki Campbells, we expected my smallest Campbell Magsy to act as an adopted mother to the new ducklings as she regularly goes broody despite our best efforts to take the eggs away, however when she got near them she pecked them, is this normal? Thanks.
miller30
How old are the ducklings and yes they will peck at them and she wont accept them as her babies its not as easy as that also are both your khakis girls leanne
Redwing
unfortunately she wont accept them, she needs to actually be broody and the ducklings hours old for it to work If the ducklings are under 3 weeks old they'll need a brooder and heat lamp Ducks are more easy going than chickens, once the ducklings are 6 weeks old I'd try an introduction with your existing ducks provided they are both female. If one is male it may take longer
zoejames
Agreed, ducks will never foster ducklings. zo x
